La Casa de Don Pedro President & CEO Peter T. Rosario was recently invited to participate in a high-level roundtable discussion hosted by New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill, convening Latinx community leaders and organizations from across the Garden State. The discussion is part of Governor Sherrill’s onboarding plan since taking office in January 2026, aimed at engaging community leaders, small business owners, and residents on priorities including economic growth, supporting small businesses, and improving government efficiency.
For La Casa de Don Pedro, the invitation reflects our agency’s long-standing role as a trusted pillar and advocate for Latinx communities statewide. Reflecting on the moment, Rosario shared the significance of having a seat at the table:
“I was truly humbled and honored to represent La Casa de Don Pedro, at the invitation of Governor Mikie Sherrill, in a roundtable discussion with top Latinx leaders and organizations throughout the state… Seeing my name on that placeholder and having a ‘seat at the table’ is an opportunity I do not take lightly.”
Rosario also emphasized that this recognition is rooted in collective leadership and legacy:
“The unwavering support and encouragement I receive from our Board of Directors and incredible staff is what allows me to elevate the incredible work we do on a daily basis… This experience has given me a new level of appreciation for my role as the torchbearer of the incredible legacy that was forged by so many who came before us.”
Governor Sherrill underscored the importance of these conversations in shaping policy that works for all New Jerseyans:
“It was an honor to meet with leaders from across the Latino community to hear directly about the issues that matter most – expanding access to capital for minority-owned businesses, improving representation in government, protecting every New Jerseyan from federal overreach, and more. These discussions are vital to moving forward and helping ensure the government delivers for everyone.”
As New Jersey’s largest Latinx-led agency, La Casa de Don Pedro remains committed to ensuring the voices, needs, and aspirations of Latinx communities are heard at every level of government. Our presence at this roundtable reaffirms not only the impact of our work, but our duty to continue advocating for equity, opportunity, and dignity for the families we serve throughout the Garden State.
