(December 23, 2020) Attending school from home has many, many challenges. But La Casa has been working to make sure that access to technology is not one of them. In collaboration with Newark Public Schools, La Casa has purchased and distributed close to 400 Chromebook laptops to the families of our Early Childhood Education students (Early Head Start, Head Start, and Pre-K) since September. With preschool operating remotely to keep our students, their families, and our staff safe, Chromebooks have not only been essential to offer synchronous and pre-recorded programs, but it helps family workers and teachers communicate daily with children’s parents and caregivers.
The Chromebooks have been boosted by providing substantial educational materials to each preschooler, thanks to funding provided by the donors of La Casa’s Project Backpack campaign and the federal Head Start program.
