Building Community in Lower Broadway: LCDP Hosts Greenlight Fund Newark Networking Lunch
In early September 2026, La Casa de Don Pedro brought together nearly 50 staff members, community partners, and elected officials at 23 Broadway for a networking lunch dedicated to connection, collaboration, and the kind of relationship-building that strengthens Newark from the inside out.
The gathering centered on an introduction to Greenlight Fund Newark and their four current grantees: EMS Corps, Reading Partners, Food Connect, and Housing Connector. Each organization is working to address critical needs across Newark’s communities, and the lunch offered attendees the opportunity to learn more about their work, explore potential partnerships, and identify points of alignment with LCDP’s own programs and mission.
The room reflected the diversity and energy of the Lower Broadway neighborhood that La Casa de Don Pedro has called home for more than five decades. Among those in attendance were Councilmember Amina Bey and Councilmember Larry Crump, whose presence underscored the civic importance of the conversations taking place.
Conversations flowed across tables, introductions were made, and connections were formed that will continue well beyond that afternoon. That is exactly what this kind of gathering is meant to do.
