La Casa de Don Pedro was proud to host GreenLight Fund Newark for a networking lunch that brought together nonprofit leaders, community partners, and local elected officials to strengthen relationships and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Held at La Casa’s 23 Broadway Family Success Center, the gathering welcomed approximately 50 attendees, including Council member Amina Bey and Council member Larry Crump. The event created a valuable space for organizations committed to improving outcomes for Newark residents to connect, share ideas, and learn from one another.
During the luncheon, participants were introduced to GreenLight Fund Newark and its four local portfolio organizations:
- EMS Corps, preparing young adults for careers as emergency medical technicians.
- Reading Partners, helping students strengthen literacy skills through one-on-one tutoring.
- Food Connect, addressing food insecurity by connecting surplus food with communities in need.
- Housing Connector, expanding access to stable housing by partnering with property owners and service providers.
The event highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing the complex challenges facing families throughout Newark. By bringing together organizations with complementary missions, the networking lunch fostered meaningful conversations about how partnerships can create greater impact across education, housing, workforce development, food access, and community well-being.
