La Casa de Don Pedro is proud to celebrate the opening of the Lower Broadway Community Grocery Store, a new initiative designed to increase access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food for families in Newark.

The new community grocery store is stocked with a wide variety of essential food items, including pantry staples, frozen foods, dairy products, eggs, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Created to help address food insecurity with dignity and choice, the store provides a welcoming space where community members can access healthy groceries that reflect the needs and preferences of the neighborhoods we serve.

At full capacity, the grocery store can provide enough food to serve approximately 350 people before needing to restock, helping ensure that families have reliable access to fresh and nutritious options during times of need.

This exciting milestone is the result of months of planning, collaboration, and dedication from the La Casa de Don Pedro team. A special congratulations goes to Sky, Genesis, and Ivette, whose hard work, leadership, and commitment were instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Their efforts have helped create a valuable new resource that will benefit families throughout the Lower Broadway community.

The Lower Broadway Community Grocery Store reflects La Casa de Don Pedro’s ongoing commitment to reducing food insecurity while promoting health, dignity, and community well-being. By providing culturally appropriate food in an accessible and welcoming environment, the grocery store is another way La Casa continues to empower families and strengthen neighborhoods.

As community needs continue to evolve, La Casa de Don Pedro remains committed to developing innovative solutions that ensure every family has access to the resources they need to thrive.
