January 26, 2024 (Newark, NJ) – La Casa de Don Pedro announced today that it received a grant from MetLife Foundation as part of their two-year, $10 million Accelerating Commitment to Equity Innovation Fund (ACE Innovation Fund). The fund aims to democratize access to capital for non-profit organizations addressing income and wealth inequality in communities that have been historically and systemically disinvested.
La Casa de Don Pedro was awarded a $250,000 grant to accelerate their Healthy Homes and Community Empowerment programs which focuses on building home equity and generational wealth in Newark, NJ and surrounding areas. As a result of being awarded this grant, La Casa is now part of a national cohort of actively engaged peers that will network and participate in a community of practice.
“We are truly grateful to MetLife Foundation for their commitment to our communities. With this funding, La Casa will address the growing wealth gap in Newark and beyond by helping families of color create generational wealth through homeownership using a three-prong approach: navigating the homeownership process, helping families retain their homes when facing troubles, and increasing property values by making key renovations,” said Peter T. Rosario, President & CEO, La Casa de Don Pedro.
