At La Casa de Don Pedro (LCDP), we recognize that true wellness extends beyond just physical health; it also encompasses mental, emotional, and cultural well-being. That’s why we are proud to have planned and recently opened the El Barrio Wellness Mental Health Center. In this welcoming, culturally-rooted space, individuals and families can find healing, support, and a sense of belonging.

A Center Designed for the Whole Person

The El Barrio Wellness Mental Health Center strives to address the holistic needs of our community through services that mirror Newark’s cultural richness. We provide culturally-responsive mental health and wellness support that honors the experiences, languages, and identities of those we serve, especially our Latinx and immigrant neighbors. This includes individual and family counseling personalized to cultural backgrounds; support groups focusing on trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, and life transitions; wellness workshops on mindfulness, self-care, and emotional resilience; and community healing circles and cultural events that encourage connection, celebration, and shared strength.

Why El Barrio Wellness Matters

Many residents in our community face unseen stressors, the burden of trauma, the difficulty of managing life changes, and the obstacles that block access to meaningful care. The El Barrio Wellness Mental Health Center removes those obstacles by providing services in both Spanish and English, ensuring accessibility and cultural competency for everyone.

Here, people discover a team of compassionate professionals who listen, uplift, and walk alongside them. Through respectful, strengths-based care, individuals rebuild confidence, families find stability, and healing starts in places where it may have once seemed unreachable.

At LCDP, we believe that supporting the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, strengthens not only individuals but also families and the entire community.
