(July 29, 2021) The cool spring weather on June 12th attracted a record 28 volunteers to join La Casa’s community clean up at our early childhood centers located at 201 and 202 First Street in Newark’s north end. The volunteers ranged from Newark community leaders, volunteers visiting Newark for the very first time, La Casa staff and their families, to La Casa preschool alumni who are now young adults. Together, the team cleaned up the weeds and hedges, picked up garbage and debris, trimmed trees, and painted over graffiti, making a significant transformation at the two preschool centers, which house more than 100 preschool children, infants, and toddlers. The clean-up was held in celebration of NeighborWorks Week, a week that showcases how the NeighborWorks America network strengthens communities and celebrates its collective impact. La Casa is a proud NeighborWorks America member. Thank you to the following businesses and individuals whose donations ensured the day was a success. |
